Abstract

A brief review is given on the electronic and optical properties of carbon nanotubes with emphasis on Aharonov-Bohm effects. The topics include an effective-mass description of the electronic states, optical absorption and excitons, their fine structure, optical absorption for perpendicular polarization, and optical phonons.
