Modeling of the thyme: Liquid carbon dioxide extraction system

Abstract

The extraction of thyme (Thymus vulgaris L) by liquid carbon dioxide was investigated. The obtained extracts were analyzed by HPLC and GC-MS methods, and their composition was compared with that of the essential oil obtained by steam distillation and by supercritical carbon dioxide at 100 bar and 40?C. To model extraction of the thyme - liquid carbon dioxide system, we used the Reverchon - Sesti Osseo equation, as well as our modified equation.Ispitana je ekstrakcija timijana (Thymus vulgaris L) primenom ugljendioksida u tecnom stanju. Za kvalitativnu i kvantitativnu analizu dobijenih ekstrakata primenjene su metode HPLC i GC-MS. Izvrseno je uporedjivanje kvalitativnog i kvantitativnog sastava ekstrakta dobijenog primenom tecnog ugljendioksida sa etarskim uljem timijana dobijenim destilacijom pomocu vodene pare, kao i sa ekstraktom dobijenim promenom ugljendioksida u superkriticnom stanju (100 bar, 40?C). Modelovanje ispitivanog ekstrakcionog sistema timijan ? tecni ugljendioksid izvrseno je primenom jednacine Reverchon - Sesti Osseo-a, kao i primenom nase modifikovane jednacine.
