In the past the rigid process architecture of standard software packagesfor business process support proved to be quite bothersome. Nowadaysthese packages are able to follow the dynamics within organizations in amore flexible way due to their rich functionality. However, importantproblems to be solved are an increase in the complexity of theenvironment, long implementation cycles and a chance that the broadlyapplicable generic business functions cannot be implemented easily justbecause of the rich functionality. This last issue can also lead toinflexible rigid systems as a consequence of configuration complexity. This paper discusses the Dynamic Enterprise Modeling approach in thelight of these problems. It will provide a clear view on developinginformation systems and restructuring business processes implementing astandard software package.
