Abstract

A high incidence of deafness, confirmed by brainstem auditory evoked response testing, was found in a colony of pointer dogs selectively bred for excessive nervous behaviour. The results of outcross and F1backcross breedings were consistent with an autosomal recessive mode of inheritence of deafness in this family of dogs. © 1994 The American Genetic Association.
