Abstract

A 52-year-old male presented with erythema and bullae on light-exposed areas for 1 year. He is an alcohol abuser for 30 years. Physical examination revealed erythema and hyperpigmentation on his face and dorsal hands, a peanut-like bulla presented on his left dorsal hand. Histopathological examination showed a blister under the epidermis and caterpillar bodies in the epidermis. Uroporphyrin was positive. A diagnosis of porphyria cutanea tarda was established. Symptoms were alleviated after giving up drinking and sun-light avoidance.
