Abstract The agronomics and technological characteristics (°Brix) of tomato fruits are very important for the processing industry. An experiment was carried out at Experimental Center for Agricultural Sciences of Campus Jataí, University Federal of Goiás (UFG), in order to study the influence of different layers of drip irrigation on those attributes of processing tomato fruits. The experimental design was a randomized block with four replications and treatments consisted of four layers of drip irrigation (L1, L2, L3 e L4 each representing about 50%, 75 %, 100 % and 125 % of the necessary layer for water reposition until field capacity) applied to plots. The technological and agronomic variables were: total soluble solids (ºBrix), mass, fruit diameter and average length. Samples consisted of ten fruits per plot, considered only those without any damage, regardless of size. The L1 (50%), had higher average value of °Brix (6.57), which gets best prices by the processing industry, while the L4 (125%) had the lowest average value of °Brix (6,0). Among the characteristics examined, the diameter, weight and ° Brix were influenced by irrigation layers. The increase in water layers up to 125% of the required to achieve field condition capacity provides an increase in mass and diameter of fruits. By the other hand, the reduction of layer up to 50% of the required caused an increase in ° Brix. The length of fruits was not affected by the water layers applied.
