Survey and characteristics of the submersion wave due to the sudden opening of the bottom outlet of Alto Mora Dam (Italy)

Abstract

With the agreement of the owner of the dam and exploiting a favourable topographical situation, an artificial wave has been produced by sudden opening the bottom outlets of Alto Mora dam and recorded in 10 sections along the downstream river. The data taken from the records are presented and analyzed in order to have an appreciation of their internal congruence and to obtain a first hydraulic characterization of the phenomenon. -from Authors
