Abstract

Waria is a term for men who like a woman. Waria is one of the marginal groups that are under pressure from a structural and cultural perspective. Waria is often isolated and even discriminated against. The author seeks to conduct studies on the adaptation of transgenders in meeting their personal needs. This study obtained an overview of the process of adaptation of transgenders in a personal, social, marital or material manner, and vocational in meeting the needs of transgenders. Researchers used a descriptive qualitative method of two respondents using observation and interview research techniques at Waria Al Fatah Islamic Boarding School in Yogyakarta. The results of this study indicate that transsexuals in waria boarding schools still carry out a process of adjustment in meeting personal needs in the community since he feels he has a female soul in a man's body that continues until he is an adult..
