Former street children whose life, nowadays, comprise of self-concept or idea of themselves from what they have been through in their past incidents or experience. Through the concept of himself, former street children displays symbols that give themselves meaning and they have exchanged it into their image in his actions. The purpose of this research is to find out the self-concept of former street children and how symbolic means are exchanged between them. The theory underlies this research is symbolic interaction theory according to Blumer and Mead as well as the theory of the looking glass self according to Cooley. This research use qualitative approach with phenomenological method. From all the research process, the result indicates that from 4 group of focused in this research, the meaning of self concept are economic role, moral, pride and self actualization, they exchanged their symbolic means and then they show it through their action and behavior
