Abstract

The UN was established post WWII with principles to protect future generations from war, protecting the human rights, integrity of international law and providing better living conditions. The UN has its own legitimacy and it also has the authority to provide legitimacy for its members and others within International system. Which means UN membership is a basic condition of any party to be recognised as a state. Then it talks about the power structure and balance of power in UN which is then followed by its operational capabilities. The study then talks about the required reforms and its practicality. The study concluded by emphasising that UN has to be reformed especially UNSC has to be improved in terms of representation as per contemporary dynamics and create a balance between nations and all regions.
