Introduces the special issue of Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology, noting that neuropsychological diagnosis depends in large part on a clinician's ability to determine what test performance would have been in the absence of injury. Premorbid estimation is thus a central, and yet elusive facet to neuropsychological practice. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2002 APA, all rights reserved)
