Abstract

Familiarity with the essentials of perioperative management for open aortic aneurysm surgery is important. These patients may present for elective or emergency, life-saving intervention. This is a major cardiovascular and inherently high-risk operation. This chapter addresses anesthetic considerations for preoperative optimization, induction and maintenance of anesthesia, anticipated perioperative hemodynamic and organ perfusion challenges, and postoperative care of this population.
