Abstract

One of the most ideologized procedural institutions is the lay judge, particularly the jury. After a close study of History it becomes clear that, indeed, ideology has played an important role in the promotion of non-professional justice. But it also becomes self-evident that the ancient reasons to implement it are no longer valid.
