Abstract

An earthquake of Mb4.9 caused damage of intensity VI to VII in Liege, Belgium on 8 November 1983. A temporary array of 8 seismographs deployed between 10 and 17 November detected 7 probable aftershocks, 7 mine-related events and 7 near events. The aftershocks imply a vertical source plane striking NE-SW and a hypocentral location directly below the area of maximum damage. -Authors
