Sediment dynamics in coastal and marine environment is an extremely complicated and not fully understood process. Movement of sediment particles is subject to the influence of many environmental factors and processes occurring at different temporal and spatial scales. A comprehensive understanding of sediment dynamics requires systematic analysis of the joint contributions of geophysical, biological, and chemical processes and their coupling.
