Abstract

Since the 1990s, a number of new additions have been made to the vaccine schedule (as well as reformulation of old vaccines), which now covers 24 infectious diseases and has reduced rates of many diseases, and eradicated others. Health professionals administering vaccines should have an understanding of the human immune system and how different vaccines types (live-attenuated, killed or sub-unit, and conjugated) work.
