Abstract

There are many types of seizures, and standardized terminology has been proffered by the International League Against Epilepsy to provide a consistent framework for clinicians and researchers to describe ictal events. Focal seizures are described based on the area of brain involved in their production. Lateralization and lobar localization are important descriptors in determining the origin of seizures. Myriad forms of generalized seizures are described, including generalized tonic-clonic tonic, atonic, and myoclonic seizures.
