Multichannel recording is an efficient method of acquiring ground roll. By displaying the obtained information in a swept-frequency format, different frequency components of Rayleigh waves can be identified by distinctive and simple coherency. In turn, a seismic surface-wave method is derived that provides a useful noninvasive tool, where information about elastic properties of near-surface materials can be effectively obtained.
