This study aims to analyze the effect of parental education on the nutritional status of children aged 1 to 19 years, divided into four categories: malnutrition, eutrophy, overweight and obesity. For this, a multinomial model of qualitative choice, the Ordered Logit, is used. The results suggest that the mother’s education decreases the likelihood of childhood malnutrition, but in contrast increases the obesity in children from 1 to 10 years old. For the second sample of adolescents, the higher education of the father decreases the likelihood of malnutrition and increases the obesity.
