What is the nature of the relation between philosophy and translation and how does translation influence the reception of philosophical works? The article examines these issues by demonstrating how Heidegger’s term Dasein was translated into Bosnian/Croatian/Montenegrin/Serbian. The article thus concentrates on the difficulties related to the translation of philosophical texts, dealing with the translation from a major language, that is German, which holds a central position in Western philosophy, into Bosnian/Croatian/Montenegrin/Serbian. It reflects upon the impact of specific translation decisions on the reception of Heidegger’s Sein und Zeit (Eng. Being and Time) in this language area.
