Abstract

This document is Chapter 4 from a book entitled The Eurogang Paradox, published in 2001. According to the chapter introduction, ‘[t]his chapter examines both the advantages and limitations of studying gang behavior within the context of longitudinal studies in which individuals, not groups, are followed over time. Several advantages to this approach are illustrated using data from the Rochester Youth Development Study.’
