Abstract

New records of four species of the genus Eremaeozetes Berlese 1913 from South Africa are presented. Eremaeozetes louisae n. sp. and E. nasutus n. sp. are described and illustrated. A supplemental description with illustrations of E. machadoi Mahunka 1989 is given; records of E. capensis Schatz 2001 are added. The term “Eremaeozetes-reticulatus-group” is proposed for a group of morphologically closely related Eremaeozetes species, including Eremaeozetes araucana Monetti et al. 1994, E. lineatus Mahunka 1985, E. louisae n. sp., E. machadoi Mahunka 1989, E. nasutus n. sp., E. reticulatus Balogh 1958, and E. sabinae Schatz 2000. A diagnostic key for the known Eremaeozetidae species from the Ethiopian region is provided. © 2003 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
