Abstract

Unfortunately glass is highly transparent for the wavelength of 1.06 ~m com~ monly used by marking systems. Using absorption via non-linear effects can be a solution of this problem. There are three conditions for an effective use of non-linear effects: a high repetition rate (500 Hz), TEM oo beam quality (M2 <1.5) and a high pulse power (> 0.5 MW). The formation of laser induced plasma in the case of surface and sub-surface focusing regime was investigated by a special high speed framing microscope.
