Abstract

Invasive fungal infections (IFIs) continue to be a significant problem in neutropenic patients. They are common, difficult to diagnose, and associated with high mortality rates. Their frequency may be estimated by two types of studies: autopsy surveys and controlled trials of antifungal agents for empirical treatment of prolonged fever during neutropenia.
