Abstract

A virtual garment fitting system which fits a top and bottom of garments to 3D body data and online retail pseudo shop are introduced. This system uses laser scanned 3D body data and digital images photographed the front and back of a garment. The digital images are modeled to reflect tensions among particles in the images and the friction and gravity effects are considered in the fitting process to the body data. When pants and skirt are fitted, a virtual belt is introduced to hold it in the waist since gravity effects pull down it. This system needs only the front and back images of garment without the patterns of garment and shows good fitting results. With this system we suggested the online retail business model of garment and pseudo shopping mall in this paper. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
