Abstract

Carrying out organic transformation without using any catalyst in water is considered as the most environmentally benign pathway. Under this context, diverse organic transformations such as various organic named reactions, ring opening of epoxides, condensations, protection-deprotections of amines, multi-component synthesis of bioactive heterocycles, etc. have been carried out in water without employing any catalyst. This chapter deals with the up to date developments on catalyst-free organic transformations occurring in aqueous media.
