Abstract

A diffusion model is presented for the recombination of isolated pairs of reactants. A general solution has been derived for neutrals and an approximate procedure, with specified limitations, is indicated for ionic recombination. Expressions (exact or approximate as specifically applicable to cases detailed in the text) are provided for the ultimate recombination probability, rate of the recombination process and the half-time of the reaction.
