Abstract

MANUFACTURING BSCCO SUPERCONDUCTOR MATERIALS USING SOLID METHOD. BSCCO superconductor material is widely used in the form of underground cable, transmission cable, transformers, maglev train, etc. In this present work, a manufacturing of bulk superconductor of BSCC was constructed by mixturing various oxides of Bi2O3, SrCO3, CaO, CaCO3, and PbO. The purpose of this work find the optimum sintering temperature to obtain BSCCO superconductor by solid method. Sintering process was carried out at T= 800 °C, 820 °C, 845 °C, and 865 °C for 90 h. The oxide powders were compressed in ø 10 mm of silindrical dies using compression machine with the load of 1000 Kpa at room temperature. The sintered of compact oxide powders were examined by XRD (X-ray diffraction), SEM (scanning electron microscopy) and Meissner test. The XRD results show the present phases of Bi2212 and Bi2223. The higher volume fraction of Bi2212 and Bi2223 phase obtained approximately around 73.6% at T= 845 °C and 42.4% at T= 865 °C, respectively. Those conditions lead to strong and medium of levitation effect.
