Abstract

Satisfactory levels of radioactivity, about 4,000 c.p.m- for males and about 6,000 c.p. m. for females, have been obtained in adult Anopheles Stephens! LEston by rearing 500 fourtli-instar larvae in 1 liter of watep containing 10 c. of P32. The behavior of the adults does not seem to have been affected in any way by the isotope. To obtain a good adult yield in a desired period of time (3 to 5 days after radioactivation of larvae), it was found necessary to choose larvae of uniform size with the aid of a mechanical separator.
