Background: Although outcomes in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) undergoing primary percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) have improved, women show higher mortality. Objectives: To assess gender differences in presentation, management and in-hospital mortality, at 30-days, 6-months and 1-year after STEMI. Methods: We retrospectively collected data from 809 consecutive patients treated with primary PCI and compared the females versus males at the local intervention cardiology database.
