The importance of environment, genetics, and stochasticity factors are changed with longevity. It is well documented that the quality and the size of the humoral immune response decline with age. The individuals, genetically enriched for longevity, possess different immune signatures comparing to the general population. Human leukocyte antigen and cytokine gene polymorphisms are two examples with some associations with ageing. The genetic factors coding the immune system in association with ageing have been described in this chapter.
