Abstract

In \booktitle{Practicing Sustainability}, chefs, poets, music directors, evangelical pastors, skyscraperarchitects, artists, filmmakers, as well as scientificleaders, entrepreneurs, educators, business executives, policy makers, and the contrarians, shed light on ourunderstanding of sustainability and the role that eachof us can play. Each contributor addresses whatsustainability means, what is most appealing about theconcept, and what they would like to change to improvethe perception and practice of sustainability. Whatemerges from their essays is a wide spectrum of viewsthat confirm an important insight: Sustainability ispursued in different ways not only due to differentinterpretations, but also because of varyingincentives, trade-offs, and altruistic motives.
