Abstract

In this chapter, we shall limit ourselves to studying the morphologies present in an equilibrium state in physical systems: once formed, the structures no longer evolve over time; they remain stable without the need for any further energy to be injected into the system. This means that we can model them by computing the energy balance of the interactions present; the structure obtained and its characteristic lengthscale correspond to a minimisation of the system's energy. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
