Abstract

In this chapter, descriptions towards the anatomy and physiology of human craniofacial are presented. In addition, anatomy and terminologies that are commonly used in dentistry are also described. Considerations regarding on the biomechanics in the field of dentistry especially through the application of osseointegrated dental implant system are also discussed. Further details on the implantation methods, implantation loading, surface topography and material are presented in the following subsections. This chapter provides sufficient information to further enhance the understanding of the next chapters.
