Abstract
Since selling its strip-rolling quota to British Steel in 1985, the UK based EAF steelmaker, Alphasteel, had been content to export bar and billet to Greece and slab to the USA. Last year, Alphasteel, with 1.5Mt capacity in billet and slab production, entered the UK rebar market, rapidly gaining nearly 20% of the business by competitive pricing.
