Abstract

The Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS)/Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) is an indigenous system developed by Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) to offer Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) services over the Indian subcontinent. Currently, NavIC constellation in performance evaluation stage with seven operational satellites. In this paper, analysis of various parameters such as Dilution of Precision (DOP), three-dimensional Root Mean Square (3DRMS), Horizontal Position Error and Satellite Visibility with respect to UTC (Universal Coordinate Time) is carried out. These parameters are analyzed using data obtained from ISRO’s NavIC receiver at Hyderabad station (17°24′28.07″N, 78°31′4.26″E) for two typical days (6th and 7th July 2017). It is found that receivers operated in Hybrid mode are giving better results than that of the Stand-alone positioning mode. This work finds application in the development of single frequency NavIC/GNSS receivers for civilian navigation applications over Indian region.
