BriteStep: Automation in IT assessment

Abstract

This focuses on an assessment system which permits the automated creation of tests and the evaluation of output from IT trainees. The existing prototype differs radically from other approaches in that it does not require any specific software platform to operate. Instead, it integrates seamlessly with standard existing business software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint or Excel. To achieve its objectives the system monitors and records user activity and through an intelligent inference engine it either creates test templates or it automatically assesses submitted tests. The present prototype operates on Windows XP and Vista and minimizes the effort of tutors to set and evaluate tests. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
