Abstract

This chapter provides reflections into the lessons learned from a career in spine surgery. It is, however, important to note that these lessons can be applied not only to spine surgery but to all surgical specialties. Regardless of the contents of this chapter, as spine surgeons and as physicians, we must all remember that we must “first do no harm” and second to “do unto others as you would do unto yourself.” It is important to be honest and to do what is right for our patients.
