Abstract

Virtual reality (VR) technology, as a new teaching media, has been widely applied to teaching in colleges and universities. This paper introduces the concept of VR technology and features, and analyses the application of VR technology in teaching reform in higher education from several aspects, such as teaching methods, teaching contents, teaching measures, teaching management, and so on. And the advantages of VR technology applied to teaching are discussed. The application of the technology is favorable to improving the independent innovation capacity, self-learning ability of students, at the same time, be able to make up for shortage of teaching conditions. © 2012 Springer-Verlag GmbH.
