Abstract

The article is based on a review of academic literature resulted of 63 research conducted from multiple disciplines on the phenomenon of illicit crops in Colombia, attending to interpretations linked to the disciplinary framework of geography. An epistemic evolution of the projected analysis was identified in three aspects that allow the proposed phenomenon to be read from this perspective: 1. The traditional approach to geography regarding its natural characteristics; 2. The approach to human geography in geoeconomic perspective; and 3. The approach to international geopolitics from a radical approach to geography. It is confirmed that space as cause and effect of the phenomenon is a determining factor that explains the emergence and settlement of the production and trafficking of illicit crops in Colombia.
