Abstract

Parasites in 18 species of captive animals in a small zoo in Tamil Nadu, India, were surveyed on the basis of 60 faecal samples. The results are tabulated. 35 (58%) of the samples were positive for helminth infections and 3 (6%) were positive for protozoal infections. The nematodes Strongylus, Trichuris and Strongyloides, as well as coccidia, were identified in herbivores, and the nematodes Toxocara and Ancylostoma and the digenean Artyfechinostomum were identified in carnivores.
