Comparing the health of circumpolar populations: Patterns, determinants, and systems

Abstract

Arctic communities are undergoing rapid social, cultural and environmental changes which affect their patterns of health and disease. Circumpolar peoples and their governments and organizations have developed health system responses to such changes. Innovations involving both technological advances and revitalization of traditional cultural practices hold promise for improving access to and the quality of health care and ultimately the wellness of circumpolar people and their communities.
