Abstract

Sex roles are stereotyped norms and expectations for human behavior based on gender which are socialized from birth onward and are continually reinforced by the social environment. A complete understanding of sex roles is possible only when they are viewed in the context of the society that supports the systematic social and economic oppression of women and maintains a general imbalance of power between men and women.
