Abstract

Maintaining and preserving quality records is today a concern for the international archival community. One of the most accepted solutions has been to specify requirements in the field of record management. Therefore, a methodological proposal was elaborated to specify record management requirements applicable in any organizational context in a rigorous and didactic way. Documental analysis was applied as research method. Five experiences over the process of requirement engineering were examined, which served as references for the methodological proposal. A flexible methodology was obtained, based on four principles: system approach, collaboration, iteration and continuity, and transparency. This was organized in four processes: elicitation and analysis, documentation, negotiation and validation, whose successful execution requires the application of a set of methods and techniques defined in the study.
