Climate related disasters in forestry can take many forms, including the frequency of severe weather events (blow downs and lightning), the occurrence of disease and insect outbreaks, the intensity and duration of critical fire weather events. In the longer term we are talking about changes in optimal growing areas, the type of species that can be grown, and changes in the overall hydrological cycle of a region (Mote et al. 2003). © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
