Abstract

Sialolithiasis is to the formation of stones in the ducts of salivary glands. This leads to its obstruction. It is a multifactorial entity since the composition of the saliva and the anatomy of the duct contribute to its formation. The most frequent clinical manifestations are swelling and colic pain. The diagnosis is based on the anamnesis and physical examination and diagnostic imaging. It has a favorable prognosis and the most frequent complication is bacterial sialadenitis. It is a rare entity with great clinical repercussion. It must be suspected to treat it promptly.
