Abstract

Sophisticated means and new methods of warfare as well as the introduction of cyber operations pose a challenge to international law in general and humanitarian law in particular. These challenges are described in the present chapter and put under the label of "dehumanization"-a term describing the diminishing role of human beings in warfare. The chapter also gives an overview over the contents of the present volume.
