Rio de Janeiro s geographical space and urban metropolitan organization developed influenced particularly by actions of the Federal power of the Brazilian Republic. This presence took the form of institutional measures, as the federal capital move to Brasilia, or the merging of the previous states of Guanabara and Rio de Janeiro
