Abstract

What is the role of representation and simulation in the design process and how do these support learning in the design studio? How can augmented reality assist such learning? To examine this, the chapter will first consider how modes of representation have been used in architectural design, with particular focus on the role of models, then consider how these modes affect the design student's understanding of their work, and finally postulate the manner in which augmented reality contributes to this process. © 2009 Springer Netherlands.
