Nutrition services are an essential part of an interdisciplinary, interprofessional model of health care. Regularly valued but often under-represented in clinical settings, nutrition services can lay the foundation for prevention while serving as a vital adjunct to clinical care. Budgetary constraints and a naivety of perceived value that a nutrition professional can provide hinder many areas of health care from utilizing the services of a registered dietitian (RD). This chapter provides a brief overview as well as intervention strategies for a few of the more commonly seen concerns in the college health population for which there are suggested dietary-based treatments. Equally important is prevention, and the importance of nutrition education is not lost in this section as basic concepts of defining a healthy diet are addressed.
